A Look Back at 2013!

2013 came and went so quickly, and within this past year, I've posted many outfits on the blog, so today I'm doing a little throwback to many of my outfits over this past year. But I went a little further with it and image mapped the collage of outfits above, so you can simply click on any outfit and it will take you directly to the original post! I also would love to know in the comments, which of my outfits this year was your favorite? Thank you all for being such lovely followers these past few years.... here's to a new year, and, of course, many more outfits on the blog! xx

Black Poppies

Wearing: Thrifted shirt, Forever 21 hat, Forever 21 blazer, Zara boots, Bullhead jeans, Vintage necklace.

I've been endlessly searching for a black velvet turtleneck anytime I go thrifting, and when I finally found this one the other day I died of excitement! I'm addicted to velvet right now for the holidays and this shirt in particular pretty much goes well with anything, but today I decided to pair it with my houndstooth blazer from Forever 21 and some light wash jeans for a more laid back, menswear-inspired look on this chilly day!

5 Tips + Ideas For An Organized Closet!

Lately I've noticed that the more clothes and shoes I get, the more messy my closet becomes, and that just leads to losing things and it's just not organized at all. It wasn't up until recently that I kind of realized that this was a big problem, since I would wake up and feel like I had nothing to wear every day. But it was just simply because I couldn't find anything! So I took the time out one day to just sit and think about what I can do to maintain this problem, and I came up with a few tips and ideas that have really helped me, so today I'd love to share them with you all, too, to keep your closet looking organized, up-to-date and even stylish!

1. Display your most worn (and cutest!) shoes on homemade shoe racks or shelves!

Having a big walk in closet with a wall covered in shoes is every girl's dream, right? I know that I for one am in love with the idea, so it really inspired me to do something with my mess of 50+ pairs of shoes that are stacked up on top of each other on the floor. I thought it would be great to make some shelves in my closet for my shoes, because it really helps to keep them visible and organized. Since I don't really wear much of any kind of sneaker or sandal, I left out my good pair of Nike Free Runs and packed away my shoes I never wear but don't want to get rid of in some shoe boxes, and just slid them underneath my bed. It takes away from the problem of having unwanted clutter, and it even makes me more motivated to want to wear my cute shoes and not so much my lazy, easy shoes.

2. Hang your scarves on scarf Hangers!

Since the cooler months are here, the scarves are out, and they're a cute accessory for any fall and winter outfit. I used to just have my scarves stuffed in a drawer where I never saw them, so they didn't get much wear in the past. But with a little bit of browsing on Pinterest, I saw a scarf hanger DIY that was super simple looking so I decided to try it out myself, and I am so happy with mine so I really recommend it to you all! Now I keep my scarves hanging up all together in my closet, and it's organized, doesn't take up much space, and my scarves are always in clear vision so I never forget about them!

3. Go by the get 1, give 1 rule!

I would have to say this is definitely a big tip to keep in mind when trying to become more organized with your closet. When you buy more clothes and shoes, or anything in general really, it's a fact that clutter ends up building up, and all of your old clothes won't get worn as much anymore, and you might just entirely lose interest on some hanging in your closet or shoved in your dresser drawers. I know it happens to me, so I decided it would be helpful to do a closet purge, and everything I buy, I have to give 1 item. It's really helped me a lot as I lose interest in some of my clothes very easily, and I feel good about it because I'm also donating to my local thrift stores, instead of keeping a bunch of clothes that I really get no wear out of anyways!

4. Keep everything organized where you can see it!

It's really important to keep everything in your closet in clear vision, because when we can't see items in our closet because they're hidden behind other items, we tend to just completely forget about them, and then six months later when we finally get around to cleaning our closets out, we rediscover these lost items. So keeping your closet clean and keeping everything where you can see it really prevents anything getting accidentally lost and forgotten about, and instead of just looking at a big cluster of clothes or shoes, you can clearly see what you have, and that really makes putting an outfit together each morning an easier and faster process!

5. Change out your closet seasonally!

If it's summertime, you're not gonna want to be staring at a bunch of sweaters hanging up in your closet when you're trying to find something to wear. Keeping your winter clothes mixed in with your summer clothes really tends to add to the clutter problem, and most of it won't be of use to you during a particular season anyways. I found that a good way to keep your specific season's clothes in sight and the rest out of sight is to clear out a few drawers in your room, and pack away the things that you won't be needing. For instance, during summer I keep a row of drawers dedicated to my fall and winter clothes, and I just neatly fold all of my sweaters and warmer clothes and place them in my empty drawers. For right now, I have all of my spring and summer dresses and blouses folded and put away in drawers, and it may seem weird to fold and place dresses in drawers, but as long as they're smoothed out and neat they won't wrinkle, so I'm not worried at all! Doing this really helps also if dressing seasonally is important to you, and it helps keep you more in spirit for whichever season it is, too!

---

If you plan to start doing some of these things, or even keep up with doing them, I'd also really recommend going through your closet and cleaning it out and re-organizing it about once every 3-4 months at least. This should really help keep everything tidy and up-to-date! Hopefully these tips have helped you as much as they've helped me with keeping my closet organized, or even inspired you to try experimenting with random things you can do to keep your closet space neat and clean! It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Wearing:Little Mistress dress, JCP T-strap heels.

Today I had so much fun putting up my Christmas decorations, and I decided to do it in style, as well! I got this adorable little black party dress from Little Mistress, and I'm just in love with the sheer sleeves and the floral designs in the dress. Little Mistresses dresses are all so gorgeous and I definitely recommend them if you're looking for that perfect Christmas party dress, because they've got so many lovely dresses to choose from! I'm totally in love with sparkly dresses for the holidays, so I think I'll have to get one of those next, but this cute LBD is my favorite so I'm excited to wear it and maybe even pair it with some sparkly tights for a holiday party!

Put The Record On

Wearing: Sugarhill Boutique dress, Forever 21 knit cardigan, Forever 21 belt + necklace, Vintage Dooney & Bourke bag, Thrifted oxfords.

I just love a dress with an adorable print, so when I saw this one on Sugarhill Boutique's site, I automatically knew I just had to have it! The dress also has such a lovely shade of olive green, which is definitely one of my favorite fall colors. I paired this dress today with my favorite cardigan and oxfords for a more casual, comfy look, but what's great about this dress is that it can be dressed up just as easily with some cute heels and accessories!

Seventeen's December/January Issue!

I'm so happy to say that I'm on page 30 of this month's issue of Seventeen magazine! While I'm also kind of sad that it's my last magazine appearance for the 2013 style council, I'm just so happy that I've gotten to be a part of it this year, and it's really led to all kinds of wonderful opportunities that I never thought would happen, from being in my favorite magazine multiple times, to even my most recent trip of being flown to NYC (the city of my dreams!) to do a photo shoot with Keds and Seventeen. It's all been such fun, and I'm hoping there's more wonderful opportunities in store for my blog and I in the future! Anyways, make sure you check out my last style council appearance! Hope you all are having a wonderful day! xx

Tombstone Blues

Wearing: Thrifted dress, Forever 21 hat, Thrifted cardigan, Target boots Thrifted bag.

Sometimes my inner hippie comes out and I just have to go out in a bohemian get-up, like this one! I just thrifted this bag yesterday and I knew it would be perfect for this outfit! Unfortunately, I found the adorable little bag squished under a big pile of many other bags, and so now it's gonna take some work to get it to not have that awkward completely empty look anymore. Anyways, hope you're all having a lovely day!

Winter Staples

Wearing: Forever 21 dress, sweater + hat, Banggood clutch, Target scarf + booties.

So far these past few cold weeks, I've been obsessed with pairing up outfits around this red sweater and my knit scarves because its so cozy and they seem to match just about everything! I also found this simple high-low dress from Forever 21 a few weeks ago, and I actually bought it specifically to layer it like this! Maybe that I should break the habit of wearing something red in every one of my winter outfits, but I just can't help that it's my favorite color and I love it so much! Hope you're having a lovely day!

Pretty in Paisley

Wearing: Modcloth dress, Forever 21 knit pullover sweater, Forever 21 hat, Vintage Dooney & Bourke bag, Thrifted boots.

Since the winter weather is almost here, I've been having to layer sweaters over my short-sleeve dresses, and I'm in love with it! I like the extra bit of color and detail it adds to my dresses, it just gives them all cute and cozy looks! I've been really trying to get creative this fall with my layering with dresses and skirts, since I find jeans on me to be so boring, and the outcome has been great so far!

Photos - My NYC mini-trip! ♥

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know that I spend most of this past week in NYC. I got flown up on Wednesday and stayed until Friday to do a photo shoot for Seventeen and Keds for their Brave campaign, which was so awesome! Even better, though, the shoot was on Thursday, which was my 18th birthday! I never would've thought I'd get to spend such a big birthday in my favorite place doing something as amazing as that! I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed spending a little bit of time in the city, even though it wasn't much. I definitely love New York even more now, and I really just cannot wait to move there someday! I'll probably upload some more photos from my trip sometime this week, but I took most of the photos on my phone. I really enjoyed sight-seeing, and I also enjoyed visiting my dream school FIT, too! I really just had the best time in NYC and I am so ready to go back again!

My Top 3 Fall Shoe Picks!

Fall is the perfect season for fabulous shoes. I tend to not wear much of sandals and open toe shoes in general, so when colder weather comes around, and all of the sandals are cleared off the shelves to make room for cute boots and heels, that's when I do all of my shoe shopping! While I have so many favorites, I decided to make a list of my top three favorite fall shoe picks!

Patent leather boots are my #1 favorite this fall because I just love the modern, New-Yorker vibe they give off. They are so clean and chic, and they look good with so many different looks, which to me makes them a perfect versatile shoe. I also love them with edgy buckles and studs on them, and even pairs in cut-out styles. I just bought a lovely pair from Zara (far right pair above) and let me tell ya, I am absolutely in love!

Lace-up heels add a preppy touch to any look, and that's why I love them so much! They're cute with tights and dresses, jeans, trousers and are just perfect for fall weather. I definitely see myself buying a few pairs of these this fall!

Oxblood loafers are very menswear-inspired, which makes them a very interesting trend this fall. The deep burgundy color is to die for, and they can complete any fall outfit, no matter if you're just wearing jeans, or a girly dress and tights! They're another very preppy shoe and also really comfy, so they're definitely one of my favorite go-to shoes for fall!
