#OOTD: Standout Gingham

I'm so ready for summer to come to a close, but until then, I'll be wearing this big, bold, off-the-shoulder gingham top from Chicwish! There was really no coordination with this outfit at all, I just threw on what felt right, and I loved it!

#OOTD: Island-Style Dress

This dress from Esley Collection reminds me of something I'd wear on a tropical island while I walked barefoot in the sand and listened to some reggae tunes, so naturally I had to buy it. However, I'm stuck in north Florida and my makeup is melting off. Oh well, at least this dress gives me happy thoughts!

Business Casual in a T-Shirt Dress

My white Sperry sneakers have turned out to be quite a popular shoe in my wardrobe this summer. You can honestly wear them with anything! The white sneaker has just about replaced every other shoe. They seem to work with every outfit and they make you feel comfortable while still adding an effortlessly cool look.

Feel Casual, Look Glam

When I put on this outfit, I had every intention of putting on heels. But, the truth is, while I love heels much more than flat shoes, they can be so stressful to wear, especially in the summer. So, I wore my gold slide ons from Forever 21 which I usually wear as my "I don't care" shoes, and I actually quite liked the look. I felt comfy, but still looked glam with my big hat and gold jewelry!

A Little Added Edge

The past few days have been gloomy here in FL, so I've styled a look to match. Smokey eyes with a comfy dress and an edgy twist -- an even mix of edgy and minimalist pieces to create a modern statement look.

As I'm sure you all can probably tell, I've been in a blogging funk lately. I haven't been posting near as much as I used to, and here's why: I feel like my blog is losing its views to Instagram! Not near as many people check out my blog as they do my Instagram, and while I get a decent amount of blog views, the overall feedback is much livelier on Instagram. It's so ridiculous how this is happening to a lot of bloggers now, but I suppose it makes sense.

With my realizing of the fact that folks would rather view my pictures on Instagram rather than visiting my blog, I figured I probably shouldn't waste as much time posting all of my outfits on here, since a blog post takes a lot of time and effort to create. I've decided to post all of my outfits on Instagram and social media, but I will post the ones I love the most on here. I may not write up as much text to go along with them either, but I will most definitely write a sentence or two about my outfits when I feel I have something specific to say.

Also, lately I've been looking more into starting the YouTube thing, and while I've never been much of a video gal, I'm starting to like the idea of it. I get even more shy than I am in real life when being recorded, so I guess that's why I've never fully committed to making videos. But I've been working on some OOTD videos along with some simple makeup tutorials. I'm not saying they're the greatest videos, but I've been making efforts at creating new video content!

Thank you all for being such amazing readers of my blog -- I appreciate it more than anything! I'm not going anywhere I promise, just making some changes that I feel appropriate for the future of my blog!

xoxo -- Carly

My Summer Staple Color

Every summer it seems that my most popular color is coral! It's so vibrant and feminine, and if I'm not wearing coral on my clothes during the summer, the chances are I'm wearing it on my lips instead... or in this case, both! Hopefully my vibrant dress is taking away from the fact that my hair is in a terrible updo... it took me less than 5 minutes and it was so hot that I simply just did not care what it looked like!

Summer Trench

On gloomy days like this, I tend to lean towards a more monochrome and minimalist look. Today I wore my Jewel Toned shapewear mini dress with a Chicwish gray trench. I love trenches for all year long and this one happens to be lightweight, which is perfect for the warm muggy days.

Printed Flares

Oh my, I have never loved a pair of jeans so much! I've always wanted some boho printed flares ever since I saw Free People's printed high-waisted flares, and then I wanted that same pair even more after I saw Steven Tyler wearing them. However, they were always a bit out of my price range and when they finally went on sale, my size was sold out. I never thought I'd be blessed enough to find jeans as cool as those until I came across these beauties from Aeropostale the other day! Yes, you're not reading this wrong, either. I FOUND THEM AT AERO! ONLY $48 FOR THE COOLEST JEANS OUT THERE! Sorry for the caps, I'm just too excited about these.

Naturally, I paired a very free-spirited look around this pair of printed flares. I went with my vintage 70s bag, clogs, and all of my other boho-inspired favorites. I've been back into my rock 'n' roll loving mood lately, listening to The Rolling Stones nonstop and thinking about how I can't wait to incorporate more boho styles into this Fall's wardrobe!

Stars, Stripes, and Circles

Wearing: Forever 21 dress + sandals, Others Follow scarf, Polette sunglasses.

I love a fun pair of sunglasses for the summertime, and these groovy shades from Polette are that pair for me this summer! These giant cream color shades are the perfect choice for all of my red, white, and blue festivities today!

Back to the Basics

Sometimes all of the prints and colors out there can become overwhelming, and that's when you just have to get back to the basics. A simple chambray skirt, striped crop top, black pumps and a giant black hat and bag to match are just one modern way of styling an outfit around basic pieces. Not to mention, it's also another way of trying to stay cool while still looking stylish, which is my main goal each summer.

Chambray skirts are a cool and comfortable summer alternative to the uncomfortable high-waisted shorts. Here are some of my favorite chambray picks:

1. This striped, rustic-chic button-down skirt is great for sunny summer adventures!
2. A light-wash chambray fit-and-flare skirt looks cute with any crop top.
3. Give you business attire a fun twist with a chambray pencil skirt
